Dear Parents,
Beyond this week, there are only three school weeks left for students – a scary thought. Also scary is how busy those last weeks of the school year become – packed with excursions, evening meetings and end of year functions. And then added to this are family commitments during the week and on the weekends. The prayer below is for all of us – that, when things get really busy we remember to slow down, breathe and then carry on.
Dear Lord, I feel so busy lately. I pray you’ll help me remember what matters most in the midst of all I have to do… Give me eyes that see the needs of those around me. Give me ears that hear the meaning behind the words. Give me hands that reach out to make a difference. Give me a heart that beats in tune with Yours rather than with the clock on the wall. Remind me often that time is intended to be given not spent. And even in the midst of all my busyness, may I truly be about Your business Amen.
Annual General Meeting The Annual General Meeting of the School Board and the Parents & Friends’ Association is next Tuesday, 21 November commencing at 6.30pm in the Multipurpose hall. The purpose of the meeting is to present reports on this year's operations, outline the initial budget for 2018, including the proposed school fees for 2018 and elect members for the coming year. All parents are encouraged to attend. There will be a light supper served at the conclusion of the meeting.
End of Year Mass & Volunteers’ Morning Tea Each year we are fortunate to have a large number of parents who volunteer their time and expertise to assist at school – in the canteen, in classrooms, at sporting events, on excursions, helping P&F Association events, and in many other ways. On Friday, 8 December, the whole school will come together to celebrate Mass, thanking God for the blessings of this year and, in particular, to thank our volunteers. Following Mass, we invite all parents who have assisted in any way to join us in the Multipurpose Hall for a ‘Thank You’ Morning Tea.

Lost Property Please check the Lost Property box outside the Admin office as soon as you can. There are many items there, most are not named. Hats, water bottles and lunchboxes are amongst the many ‘interesting’ items in the box!
First Sunday of Advent On Sunday 3 December, the First Sunday of Advent, our school community will be providing the readers, the offertory procession and the singers for Mass. If you would like to read at this Mass, please contact me as soon as possible. We are looking forward to having our children lead the singing at this Mass.
Second Rite of Reconciliation On Monday 4 December, at 7.00pm in the Parish Church, the Second Rite of Reconciliation will be offered to you and your family. This will be the only opportunity (aside from prior to a Parish Mass) that is available for your Year 3-6 child to receive this healing Sacrament in the Advent season. Individual classes will not be going to the Church for this Sacrament in the last weeks of school. Fr Ken will have up to 10 additional Priests in attendance to make this a timely and smooth process – much like the way we celebrated the Sacrament for our Year Three students earlier this term. Please mark this date in your diary and make every effort to attend.
End of Year Liturgy Our End of Year Liturgy (retelling of the Nativity story through drama and song) will take place on the grassed area on Wednesday 29 November, commencing at 5.30pm. All children are expected to attend, and will be sitting with their class teachers (except for K children). All classes will have a role in this. At this gathering, we will acknowledge and farewell staff members who are leaving, as well as Board and P&F executive members who are not continuing in their role.
Kindergarten and Pre Kindergarten Concert Our Kindergarten classes will celebrate their end of year concert on Tuesday 5 December. Both Pre-Kindergarten concerts will be held on Thursday 7 December.
Information Nights for Kindergarten and Pre Kindergarten 2018 Thank you to parents, teachers and education assistants who have attended these meetings this week. If you were not available to be there, please contact the school office to arrange to collect your information pack.

Prayer for the Week
Christ Jesus When we open our eyes, may You be there; When we open our ears, may You be there; When we open our mouths, may You be there; When we open our diaries, may You be there. Help us to see with Your eyes; Help us to hear with Your ears; Help us to speak Your truth in love; Help us to make time for You …for others … for ourselves. Amen

Class News PPM
In Pre Primary M this term, we have been exploring the place we live in and belong to. We have learnt to observe and describe the features of our place and why it is important to us. We have explored our own special places, how we feel about them, what makes them special, and how we can care for them. We have also been learning about representations on which places can be located and drawing maps and creating models to show where familiar places and features are located.

Tomorrow the Year 5 students will be participating in the inaugural CPSSA Summer Carnival in the sports of Tennis, Cricket and Ultimate Frisbee. We wish them well as they compete against 10 other schools in their chosen sports. Let’s hope their preparation brings success!

Parent help is required to transport equipment and lunches to the field prior to the children arriving at 12.00 noon. Parent help is also required to help walk students to and from the venue. Monday 27 November will be the last Running Club for 2017. Whilst our numbers have dropped off after Cross Country and Athletics, we have still had our band of faithful runners who run every Monday morning. To celebrate the last club for the year all participants are encouraged to wear crazy socks for this and then are permitted to wear them for the remainder of the day. I hope to see as many OLA students and their parents/siblings at Running Club on this day.
