Our music lessons this term are focussed on beat and rhythm. All our classes from Pre-Primary to Year 6 are working on a piece of music entitled ‘Rhythm Rocks at OLA.’ Each class is rehearsing its part, using a variety of instruments including recorders, xylophones, cajon drums, percussion cups, bucket drums and rhythm sticks. The music was specially arranged for us by Kaboom Percussion, and in Week 5, some of our classes enjoyed a preparatory workshop with Kaboom. The students participated fully, and demonstrated great respect for our visitors.
In Week 8, Kaboom personnel will video record all class performances and our students will have opportunity to showcase their excellence in rhythmic performance.
For further information on this project, see the music section of this newsletter.
