Theme: Escape to Everywhere

During Week 6, commencing Monday 21 August we celebrate:



  • Book Sale outside the library on Monday – Wednesday before and after school. Books will be 20c each and all proceeds go to Brother Olly’s Wheelchairs for Kids Appeal.
  • Better Beginnings reading packs will be distributed to Kindy students on Tuesday 22 August at 2.30pm in the Multipurpose hall. Parents are invited to come along and be informed about the program by staff from City of Stirling libraries.
    Year 2 will be attending ‘meet the illustrator’ session at the Dianella Library during the week. Class teachers will be sending letters home requesting permission for students to attend.


  • ‘Dress up Day’. On Tuesday 22 August children from Kindy to Year 6 will be asked to come to school dressed as their favourite book character or a character based on the theme Escape to Everywhere. If possible, send along the book the character originated from. There will be a parade in the Shared facility at 8.50am. Please come along and watch.


  • West Coast Eagles footballers will conduct a reading session with Year 3 students on Wednesday 23 August.


  • On Thursday we will be hosting West Australian author Sally Murphy who will be conducting workshops with some of our classes.
  • PrePrimary – Year 6, will be entertained on Thursday at 9.30am by Perform Education performing ‘SUPER DUPER', a musical, based on the Book Week theme in the Shared Facility.



Please support our Canteen, Mrs Rosie Samuels has made up a special Book Week menu and will be selling 'bookworms'.


Where will you escape to competition. This will be displayed outside the library. All students are welcome to enter. Entry forms available from class teachers. Prizes from Nextra News Dianella. Entries must be handed into the library by Thursday 24 August at 9.00am.
