Principal’s Message – Issue Twenty Five

Dear God

Thank you for all the fathers and father-figures in this world and for the many ways you use them to lovingly guide others to Your heart. I ask that you bless them and give them great joy and peace. May they see You and know You in new ways. Show them how much you love them and care about them. Guide their steps, use their hands, and make them a blessing to others as you continue to fulfil your special purpose for their lives.

Amen

Principal’s Message – Issue Twenty Five

Father’s Day at OLA

Thank you to all of the families who came along to celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, uncles and father figures in our community today. We are pleased to be able to acknowledge and thank these role models for the wonderful support they offer our students. It was a fantastic morning and I would like to sincerely thank all of the staff who made the morning possible.

OLA Open Night

Our first OLA Open Night was held on Wednesday evening, and what a success it was. Our staff and students were extremely excited to have the opportunity to showcase the year’s learning to all families. Thank you to those who attended the night, the feedback received was positive and it was fantastic to see so many family members, who don’t normally have the opportunity to visit during the school day. The Milo was a great hit as well with the children and some parents (It’s marvellous what a difference Milo makes!).

Bubs Play at OLA

Our exciting new program, Bubs Play at OLA, will be commencing on Friday 13 September. The playgroup will be offered weekly, running from 9.00-10.30am. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information about this new initiative.

Mozzarella with Mr M (MMM)

Every few weeks, I meet with the Year 6 leaders to discuss their thoughts about the school, what’s working and areas we could work on to make OLA a better school. During my discussions with the leaders, as we shared a pizza, the leaders spoke about having an ‘Alone Bench’ so that children can go sit on the bench if they feel alone, and the leaders could then support them by helping them find a friend. Following up on their request, a bench has now been purchased and will be positioned in a prominent place as soon as it is sealed. Thanks to our wonderful Year 6 students for putting forward a concept that fits in with our RICE Values.

Student Absences

On Tuesday, OLA will be having a Student Attendance Audit carried out by the Department of Education. Please ensure that whenever your child is absent, a written note is provided, emailed through or entered via the app. Thank you for your support with this.

School Disco

Don’t forget, next Friday night is the annual OLA School Disco. Please refer to the P&F section of this newsletter for more information.

Thank You to Our P&F

Thank you to our wonderful P&F for donating the funds to purchase two new 3D printers, licenses and Mini-Lit resources for our students. The children are looking forward to using the printers to create, design and print 3D objects linked to their learning.

School Banking

As of Friday 6 September, School Banking will be held in the old Uniform Shop, located opposite Pre-Primary.

Wishing all our families a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
